Useful Information

Here is some important information to remember.

There are many different so-called 'organic companies' that claim to produce healthy organic hair dyes. Unfortunately, most of them add chemicals into natural dyes.

Commercially packaged henna, intended for use as a cosmetic hair dye, is available in many countries. It will not do any good to your hair. Buy natural, pure henna.

The color that results from dying with henna can fall into a broad spectrum, from auburn to orange, to deep burgundy, chestnut brown or deep blue-black.
To achieve a color that is more brown or black, the user must use indigo hair dye as well as henna. The henna is applied first, to coat the hair. Once it is dry, the indigo is used.

The following factors determine the hair color that results from using henna:
  1. Your original hair color
  2. Freshness of the henna
  3. Region of origin of the henna
  4. Amount of time the henna is left on the hair to process
  5. Whether it remains wet on the hair, or is allowed to dry
  6. The amount of heat retained in the head during the dying process.
It is important to use pure henna, without any chemicals added.
